LocalDominate LLC
Welcome to Facebook Maxed 2011!
Thank you for your purchase! We hope you will be pleased with what we have included with this system. First, we will
establish a few basic things you must have to get started and give you some pointers to some free tools to use. Your
toolbox is very important; so you should update the tools inside when you see fit. Sometimes working with free tools will
suffice and sometimes it is better to upgrade to paid tools as they can make life much easier. Within this product, we will
refer the tools we use and let you know of any free substitutes. If you are willing to contribute to the community, feel free
to do so during our webinar walk-throughs.
What you will need:
The most basic tools you will need are:

A hosting account
- In order to use iframes for your Facebook Pages, you
must
have your pages hosted with your
own webhost. We assume that you have a website hosted on a server with a hosting company.
We suggest using a simple, yet reliable company like Bluehost or HostGator.

HTML Text Editor
- This is used to customize your page and replace text.
You may want to use a free html editor like Komposer. We use Dreamweaver just for kicks, but you could actually use
any basic text editing program. Using an actual html editor lets you see your changes before you upload pages to your
server. That’s always a plus...you could just upload changes and refresh to see the changes, though.

FTP Program
- After you build your pages, you must upload to your server.
This is simple as drop and drag inside of the ftp program. There are many free programs for this. Since we work on
Macs, we usually use CyberDuck. There are also browser plug-ins that do the job...just a matter of preference.

Your Facebook APP ID and SECRET
- we’ll discuss this in the ‘Setup on Facebook’ section.

Quick Step Guide:
***Copy and paste the theme folder you want to use (we’ll work with ‘face-colors’ since it is the most popular) to a new
folder on your hard-drive. You can call it whatever you want; for demo purposes, I'll call it myThemeFolder. Work with
the new files, so if you mess anything up, you can always go back to the original download and get what you need.
***Use an FTP program, or the file manager on your cPanel for your hosting account, to create a folder at the root of your
domain to store your fbmaxed files:
yourdomain.com/your_new_folder/
Let's call the domain:
mydomain.com
and the new folder on my server:
mynewfolder
for demonstration purposes.
***Now go into Facebook as your profile and add the official Developer App to your profile:
***Click the 'Set Up New App' button within Developer on Facebook:

Fill out the basic information as you see fit on the 'About' tab:

Application Name, Icon (if you want), etc. (Privacy Policy and Terms of Service URLs are not necessary)
 LocalDominate LLC

Click on the 'Facebook Integration' tab

Make note of AppId and AppSecret

Let's call my App Id:
123456789012
and my App Secret:
lksjieno77398usni98nv8unf7y8dhd
for
demonstration purposes.

Point Canvas URL to the full path of the new folder:
(be sure to include the
trailing slash)

Use https for the Secure Canvas URL

Choose IFrame

Choose Auto-resize

Tab Name: What you want the tab to be called on your page

Page Tab Type: IFrame

Tab URL: index.php
